Believe it or not that Hotmail email address is not looking good on you. Or your business.
I was just part of a very active and long thread on Facebook debating the use of non-domain email addresses. What does that mean? How about if I were…
Or worse, what about the ‘alias’ emails I need to for my business like…
NoelleDesigningforTheCreative@hotmail.com or NoelleDesigningforTheCreative@gmail.com
You get the idea.
I was so surprised to see the number of women in this thread that either never thought of it. Thought of it and did not care. Or thought it mattered. These are all professional women. All creating and building their own businesses. Over 4000 of them in this very active group. That I love by the way. I am not writing this to spite anyone or their thoughts on this. I am writing it because I think it matters. A lot.
Reality is you will never know the clients you lost because they did not think you sounded professional enough to bother looking into what you have to offer.
A debate can go on all day that you have never lost a client due to having something other then your domain email address and alias’. But, Reality is you will never know the clients you lost because they did not think you sounded professional enough to bother looking into what you have to offer. One thing is certain, you never lost a potential client because you did have a domain email in place.
How do I set up my clients to use their domain email? I use Google Business Apps. It is $5 and free now if you are with Hostgator for your hosting. You or I or your web person (hey, I would love to be your web person) needs access to your hosting and the backend of your WordPress site. It isn’t difficult and you also get all that goes with Google Business Apps. I have used it through 3 companies I have owned! I would never operate without it.
Email is something you probably use daily in your business and brand. Why would you not want it to reflect where you are on the web? It tells me right away where I can find you. Who is looking for you because you have the @hotmail.com address besides all the spammers??
Hit me! I’d love to set up your Google Business Apps account using your domain.
